Week 7 Prompt

 

    I did a quick Google search to find a quick list of some of the celebrity book clubs. Celebrity book clubs include: Reese's Book Club, Oprah's Book Club, Sarah Jessica Parker's book recommendations, Emma Roberts' Belletrist book club, Emma Watson's Our Shared Shelf, and the list goes on. According to the article on Variety, which detailed how the recommendation of a celebrity book club can lead to hundreds of thousands or possibly millions of book sales. Due to this many books are finding their way onto the silver screen and streaming services. Many of these page-to-screen productions are kept in-house.

    I think that celebrities bringing attention to certain books can be a really great thing. The Variety article mentions how the phenomenon has helped bring people into brick-and-mortar bookstores and it is helping sell more books. As there are more books hitting the screen there are more people that are rushing to get the book before the movie or show goes out. I am pretty okay with anything that gets people interested in reading and bookstores.
